Dead Mall, 2005 aims to replicate the unique aesthetic experience of exploring a nearly-empty shopping mall using a collection of reverberated plunderphonics and ambient noise. To some, it may seem like NetMD provides an anti-capitalist critique of American materialism and consumerism by showcasing the shortcomings of the Gruen Effect. To others, it may seem like NetMD is simply fascinated with the eerie desolation and feelings of loneliness experienced while navigating an empty retail space. Either way, Dead Mall, 2005 is sure to make you feel something…
